Every Woman Deserves a Doula!
"Doula" is Greek meaning: "woman's helper" or "servant". A doula is a non-medical birth professional. Doulas provide non-medical emotional, physical, and informational support.
What is a Labor Doula?
A labor doula is an experienced woman who assists a pregnant woman through the birthing process. A doula provides continuous emotional, physical and informational support to the laboring mother and her labor partner.
A doula is there with you throughout the entire birth process.... NO shift change! Doula's also give 100% attention to their client, only one patient to care for.
As your labor assistant, I am there for you and your family... I am not there to control the birth... I am not there to tell you how to have your baby... Only to help you find your own individual way to give birth...
WHAT'S IN IT FOR BIRTH PARTNER?
~ The birth partner can participate at his own comfort level.
~ When he wants to be the main supporter, he has an assistant. He can go to the bathroom, eat or even sleep if he needs to, without compromising the woman's comfort.
~ Women love when their partners are nurturing during labor. This can be exampled by the doula.
~ Doula's can provide education and knowledge through out the labor, explaining procedures, etc. This can reduce Dad and Mom's anxiety.
WHAT DOULAS DO NOT DO:
~ We do not do Vaginal exams, or medical interventions.
~ We do not do Deliveries.
~ We do not Speak up for the woman; rather encourages her to voice her own wishes.
